    Re: early early pre-200 sn's

    Wish internal pics were there...

And I ain't about to hand that kinda dough to somebody who can't keep the crossovers straight...and I don't buy the cabs and speakers having the same serials...

I'll bet he picked up the cabs and stuck in the speakers. So I would wanna see cone numbers and stuff. These are mono era- so why a pair?

Fake Lansing branded speaker stands? What else is fake?

While i immediately see a handful of question marks, nothing trips my suspicion more than the quantity of matching pairs of these offered by the same seller. He's offered at least 4 different pairs in a fairly short period of time.

The plywood smacks of late 60's vintage, 40's vintage plywood should have finer/tighter figuring, and there should be some football or capsule shaped plugs visible.

I'd like to look them over in the flesh, the cabinets have an intentionally distressed/weathered look that makes me suspect the worst.

EDIT: I knew i recognized the seller ID, i'm pretty sure this fella just buys domestic and sells foreign, a LOT. I suspect he's Japanese as he's quite fluent in it and advertises heavily in the Japanese market.

He sold an interesting piano black Paragon a while back.

Tom, did you buy your Hartsfields from this fella, or did he sell them for you?

    Agreed.

Chances of finding ONE pair are low as most were sold as singles. Finding multiple pairs in a short time is harder than winning the Powerball lottery when it was over 400 million.

    Re: early early pre-200 sn's

What years would those cabs have been built? We had a 1250 seat capacity theater in my home town built in 1954, torn down in 1985, with one of the widest screens in the country for that time and included a balcony. After 35 years, its hard to remember, but I could swear they had a slug of speakers that looked like those hanging on the side walls. I can't find any pictures of the inside though, but could a large batch of speakers have come out of a theater like that? I sure would like to have seen what was lurking out behind the screen.

That was sold as a utility cabinet and could be stuffed with anything...IMHO a large install would have all similar speakers. This guy has similar speakers...but the differences are just enough to look intentional to me. It is possible they were added at different times, but I doubt it.

If I were the seller would document what theater etc they were from...called "provenance" it adds value.

I think at best they are not original, he picked up cabs and stuffed the 604's in- at worst fakes.

How did the one 604 get something spilled on it inside a cab? Looks like intentional distressing. Why is there no stain in the bottom of the cab? Spilled from above..so would have had to reach INTO the open back with a cup of coffee or similar. That stain was put on outside the cabinet.

Now that you mention it, look at those runs. That speaker was handled/rotated while that stuff was wet!

I also noticed that you can see where substantial staining/corrosion has been buffed off the "front" plate on one of the HF sections.
